PROPHETIC WORDS

PROPHETIC DIRECTIVE 2019 (Part 1)

by Len Buttner

January 2019

I received this impression on the morning of January the 1st.

“There is a prophetic sound to the wind."

I felt that The Lord wanted me to write down what I was hearing prophetically about “The Wind of the Holy Spirit.”

The symbol of wind, in Scripture, suggests that there are both positive and negative connotations. Wind can be frightfully powerful, as depicted by tornadoes and hurricanes. As the wind is often unpredictable and blows one-way and then changes and blows another way the next, who knows why or where or when it will blow next!

This is a year of turbulent weather conditions for us in New Zealand (in the spirit).

In many ways this is how life is today; we are living in very changeable unpredictable, and unprecedented times. But as people of the Spirit, we have to know God is truly in control of our destiny and of the nations. He wants us to be adaptable, teachable and willing to be blown and directed according to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

We read in John 3:8 [Holman] “The wind blows where it pleases, [independence] and you hear its sound, but you don't know where it comes from [unseen] or where it is going. [Invisibility] So it is with everyone born of the spirit.”

We might ask, “Where is the wind blowing us this year? What is the Holy Spirit fulfilling in the nations of the earth?” We cannot see where the ‘Wind’ comes from, and we cannot foretell where the ‘Wind’ is going, but we can see its effect on God’s people, His church, and on the nation of New Zealand.

We perceive the true Wind of the Spirit is awaking God’s people and His Church, as we read in Ephesians 5:14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” As we learn to be still we will perceive the direction of the ‘Wind’ that is blowing in the nation, and over His Church, and in our lives.

We will get a real sense of great faith being stirred up, holy anticipation about God moving upon us with greater awareness. We are becoming enlightened people to know Him in a deeper way. His presence is much closer to us every day; a new day of open heaven over our lives.

We know that faith is being stirred up, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

We are distinguishing and discerning His voice more clearly. We read in Matthew 11:15 “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” As Jesus was describing to Nicodemus what those who are born from above were like, it is a description of everyone who is born of the Spirit. We read in John 3:3 “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

God wants us to SEE His kingdom more and more each day; it is about the Church revealing His kingdom. The word translated "anew" means: "from above” for Nicodemus understood it to mean a second birth.

To "SEE" the Kingdom means to possess and to enjoy it (John 8:51; Luke 2:26) In John 3:8 The Greek word translated as both Spirit and Wind is “Pneuma”. It is defined as a movement of air (a gentle blast) of the wind, hence the wind itself, or breath from nostrils or mouth. Similarly, the Hebrew word for Spirit is “Ruwach” and is defined as wind, breath, mind, spirit and this word is again used interchangeably for breath, wind and spirit (2 Samuel 22:16; 2 Kings 3:17).

It can be said of us that we go where He wills and where His Spirit moves us, yet we often do not know how He got us to certain places, or where we will be tomorrow. As we surrender our lives to God, we are not in control of our destiny, our lives, or even our direction – The Lord is calling us to go and fulfil our destiny and our prophetic calling in so many different ways today.

Our Father in heaven is teaching us obedience to His Spirit. And as His Wind blows we learn that we are born to live for Him and in Him. We read in Acts 17:28 “for in Him we live and move and have our being...”

We cannot DIRECT the wind, but we can ADJUST our sails.

We must regularly assess whether we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit and His voice, whether we will always listen and also obey and choose to be flexible to which direction He wishes us to go at any given point in time. We need to be very alert today as we cannot be deceived by the frequency of a wicked wind of false doctrine. (Sent out by occultists and deceitful men, see 1 Timothy 1:10)

We read in Ephesians 4:14-15 “We should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—.”

A Time of Restoration

In Ezekiel 36:25-27 “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”

We are in a time of cleansing; the sprinkling of clean water, it is a ritual and the first step of inward restoration (Hebrews 10:22).

• The second step is a new heart and spirit. (Psalm 51:10)

We need to understand that God will bring about true transformation among His people by renewing our minds and hearts and filling them with His Spirit. Today we need to welcome the exchange of heart and spirit God is offering us. It is a time to yield to God’s Spirit and receive His law of renewed life in our hearts to be truly transformed.

There are four winds of awakening for us:

The number Four is a symbol of completeness as (four winds; four directions; four corners) these represent the four quarters of the Earth and God’s omnipresence. The four winds are metaphorically the four different corners of the earth (North, South, East, West).

The four winds speak of an opportunity to give life (Ezekiel 37:9) or to scatter, uproot or destroy people, empires, kingdoms, as in (Daniel 7:2, 8:8, 11:4).

God asks the prophet the question, “Can these bones live?” Ezekiel answers, “O Lord God, You know.” (Ezekiel 37: 3). Today we need that same confidence about God performing miraculous deeds. God says, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, HEAR the word of the Lord!” (v. 4)

There is a famine of the word of God today – God’s prophets must speak out.

Surely God will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. (v. 5) I will put sinews on you, and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you and you shall live. (v. 6) The fourfold list of: sinews, flesh, skin, and breath. (A symbol of completeness)

God instructed Ezekiel to: “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, say to the breath of life. “Thus says the Lord GOD: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” (Ezekiel 37:9).

God is in the process of releasing His Spirit like a mighty Wind out of the treasures of heaven. The time is fast approaching in that God's power will blow as never before. I hear a sound, not a wind, but like the sound of wind, the unseen power of the Spirit. God is moving upon His people and upon the nation that will be humbled by The Lord and a mantle of prayer to be released over us.

There are two characteristics of wind.

  1. There are the physical characteristics of wind. (Speed and direction, for example, a southerly wind starts in the south and blows north).

  2. There are the Spiritual characteristics of wind. (The Spirit is likened to the "wind that blows where it will," and described as "a sound from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind”.)

The Bible speaks of the four winds: North Wind, South Wind, East Wind, and the West Wind.

The four directions have a spiritual significance for this age.

  1. The North wind declares a story of cleansing, purifying, washing, sanctification.

  2. The South wind declares a renewal, revival, and restoration.

  3. The East winds are symbolic of chastening, discipline, and correction.

  4. The West wind blows with God’s rich blessings and encouragement!
