The following questions are designed to make us think about how we receive and deliver “Prophetic Words” to others. If we do not continually seek to improve in the prophetic, then we will not know greater levels of being used by the Holy Spirit. I believe God wants to trust us with greater revelation of His Gifts and Ministries, so the Body of Christ can be much more matured.

I think we can use this Scripture to help: “Examine (from the Greek “peirazo” meaning “to try, to test, scrutinize, prove”) yourselves as to whether you are in the faith (from the Greek “pistis” meaning “faithfulness, steadfastness, truth”). Test (from the Greek “dokimazo” meaning “to try, prove, prove by test, approve, discern, examine”) yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? – unless indeed you are disqualified” (2 Corinthians 13:5, NKJV).

1.     How do you initially receive a prophetic word for others? In what way does it come to you, i.e. voice, impression, vision (seeing), picture, feeling, etc.? Is there a set pattern for you?

2.     What do you normally do with that prophetic word between the time of receiving and the time of delivery? I call this the “incubation” period. Does the revelation/prophetic word clarify, develop, get added to – or subtracted from - during this time?

3.     How do you deliver that word? At the time of delivering your prophetic word to others, how do you go about that? Do you put yourself where the person is that you are ministering to? (i.e. put yourself into their shoes ~ what if it were you on the receiving end of your prophetic word?). Are you aware of your mannerism? Are you afraid? Are you nervous? Do you feel strong love in your heart for that person, or people? “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men” (1 Corinthians 14:3).

4.     What would be your attitude if you believed you were giving a true prophetic word, yet others felt that it was wrong? How would you find out? What would you expect to happen? How would you re-act if you were told this? What about accountability? Who would you be accountable to? Do you have a teachable spirit?

Rodney W. Francis founded "The Gospel Faith Messenger" Ministry in April 1964, which is mainly a literature ministry providing salvation, healing and follow-up materials to help people find Christ and get established in the Christian faith. It also provides 6-7 days "Prophetic Equipping Schools" (PES), formerly called "International Training Schools", and a "School Of The Holy Spirit". Rodney and his wife Jean have pastored in the Elim Churches of NZ for many years, and in 1999 they went full time with GFM Ministry and have ministered to thousands of people world-wide who are eager to know more of the power of the Prophetic Ministry and the operation of Spiritual Gifts. They currently live in Paraparaumu on the Kapiti Coast in New Zealand.
