PROPHETIC WORDS

DON’T PUT MY PROPHETS ON A PEDESTAL

by Lyn Packer

November 2020

Over the past couple of months, I’ve noticed people’s reactions to the prophetic gift and how it’s been used. I’ve seen evidence of where people have placed prophets on a pedestal and been shaken when the prophet has given a word that has proved wrong. As I was chatting to the Lord about it I felt Him share the following with me…

“Christ within you is your hope of glory and the giver of abundant life. Holy Spirit is your counsellor and guide. We, the Trinity, are the light to your path and those who direct your steps.

While I love My prophets, they are not any of these things. I don’t want a celebrity-driven church where people are elevated and placed on pedestals. I don’t want my church to load unrealistic expectations on each other like that. That’s not how we function in the Trinity and it’s not how I want you to function as My children.

My prophets, like you, are learning to hear Me and interpret what they hear; they are working at clearing away the filters of their culture and upbringing, their church’s beliefs and traditions, and they will at times get things wrong and make mistakes. That’s why prophetic words need to be weighed. Learn how to do so, learn how to discern and to weigh prophetic words, so that you don’t get swayed by every word people claim to speak from Me.

In the days to come many will claim to be prophets and say they hear from Me, but some will speak from their own heart and some will speak outside their metron, their assigned sphere of influence. That’s why My church needs to learn to discern and weigh the things that are said. Give my true prophets grace, give them good feedback, encourage them to ‘go again’ and expect them to grow and to get better at operating in their gift. Give them room to mature – treat them as you yourself would love to be treated, as a child of mine. Don’t put them on a pedestal and don’t crucify them when they get things wrong.

In the days that are ahead the prophets will be needed – the insights and strategy I release through them will be vital, but if you place them on a pedestal and revere them you will do them a disservice, and you will hamper their ability to grow and function well. Likewise, if you vilify them when they get things wrong, you will also hamper what I want to do through them.  In doing either of these you will also hamper My church’s ability to grow and function well, and to be the blessing I want it to be.”
